cool fx

could definatly hear a heartbeat thrown in the mix. The choir sample sounded sick(a little loud though), should have utilized it more, like when that synth melody comes in at the end, which sounds badass, by the way. It almost sounds like the ambulance sirens are passing by, a really neat touch.

Who is this dangerous group we're dealing with?

S3C responds:

THE INTERNET TOUGH GUYS GROUP

thanks for the review! yeah, i guess the synth does sound a bit like ambulance sirens, i never noticed that. i might throw some rotary effects on it then :P

ahhhhh

the panning in the beginning is crazy, it resolves pretty nicely once the bass comes in. The transitions were really cool, especially the first one, when the drums come in. I think the kick could probably be turned up a bit. cant really understand the lyrics beside "punk" and "burn motherfucker" Liking the change up at 2:30, thats a weird sounding tom though. The lead melody was cool, but you could have done more with it, like splicing it up towards the end or something. Never the less, this song is awesome (haven't heard the original, so my view might be bias).

Drum solo was a neat touch, should do some more live time controlling to keep the listener intrigued before you fade out...

Anima-Theory responds:

The lyrics are "Digital punk" and "Punk Motherfucker" and different alterations of those words :P

I thought the 2:30 part sounded good, its actually not a tom but a kick drum stretched, it's pitch changed, then re-sampled.

Thanks for the review :D

Not what I was expecting...

The drums worked really nicely with the vocal samples. Some of the synths were interesting choices, mainly the plucked bass that came in with the vocals. Maybe try a saw wave, somethign more busy sounding. Is that a crowd sample too? The middle breaks down well, not sure if you even need vocals during that part. Silence is golden sometimes in music, it sets things up and amplifies the other instruments that are playing.

This actually loops pretty nicely.

Its a shame this song doesn't have any reviews...(until now)

Mataro responds:

Haha, I was starting to wonder if this song would ever get a review. I just figured I'd come and check my submissions on a spur of the moment sort of whim.. Didn't expect to really find anything. Always a pleasure getting a review from you, RGH. :D

I think the percussion and the vocals worked out pretty well, too. I'm a little dismayed to see this getting such a low score and so little attention, but such is life. ._.

The 'plucked bass' is actually more of a tabla, but good guess :P. As for the crowd sample, it's actually just a huge crash. The reverb gives it that sound. Anyhow, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thanks a ton for the review. I'm working on finishing and submitting a lot of the songs I've been working with lately.. So I should have a bunch of new stuff up soon, in all sorts of varying genres, as usual. :D

That was very beautiful

nice lyrics too

lets stop talking and play guitar solo...oh faster faster... well, don't tell me you're done already hahaha

this is awesome :D

sorohanro responds:

Quite indecent the "faster, faster" part, but what a heck, who can control penicorns ? right ?
Thanx for review.

filters are fun

reason makes it so easy to change fx on the go. the lead was catchy, then changed right when the drums came in. that bass synth probably could have sounded a little more different than the original lead. Fucking with that freq is awesome for fade ins/outs. Combining that with the drum peaks was a cool touch. Although, there definatly could have been another patch before the airy pad came in. Just would have added some more fulness. Gets a little repetetive at the 4:30 mark, maybe change the drums with some fills before the next break down.

Definatly digging it to though. Original = Hell Yea!
Keep doing your thing

funny you mentioned the pluck part in my song, cuz thats the first part that caught me off guard in this one...it almost sounded off key, faded out pretty nicely. Maybe try it with a piano? haha(seriously)

I feel as the kick was too high up in the mix, it should be sounding with the bass, not making that clicking noise. Fills were pretty nicely executed, and the song flowed quite nicely, building on parts and dropping them out again. The off-beat synth bass could probably be turned down a bit, try mixing the instruments in groups before mixing them all together.

The next section came out of nowhere, though it sounded awesome, much cooler than the first half. Gonna need a transition between parts eventually. Those flutes are goin pretty crazy at the end, sad it stopped so prematurely

:(

Good job though!

Aydin-Jewelz123 responds:

thanks :D ye people have been telling me to take out that plucky thing... guess if its gotta go its gotta go :P

Thanks for the advice on the other parts I will take this stuff into account and it will hopefully make it sound a lot better =)

Decent

the beginning piano part hardly sounding like the original. But Im really digging the build up, with the snares and strings coming in. Would have kept up the snare beat, maybe added a little more to it after the timpani roll. Can barely tell this is the ultra famous trance song it is, maybe its the synopation. You should have put ont of the instruments on an apregiator to try and match it.
Wait, here it comes. With the pizz strings and the bells, still a little funny sounding. This whole time I could have been hearing more drums, by the time the snares do come back in, its almost too late. I like the flute melody alot, wished it lased longer

Guess the ostinato assignment made it difficult to expand too much, but it didn't take me on the voyage the classic sandstorm does. keep workin on it, likeing where its going.

SniperSnake19 responds:

I really took the whole song out of perspective. the piano resembles the intro synth. its is not playing the same melody exactly but the key in which they operate as well as the note order is the same as the original.

I do not want to match trance cause its suppose to be another style.

Your right about some parts of the built up. But I they only gave me 2 weeks ( the weeks around christmas and new year) so I ran out of time! I will never forgive them for that haha!.

I just figured some1 might like it so I uploaded it for fun. Anywayz. I do like you in depth review. I hope you'll review my upcoming serious track which I had more time to spend on of course :)

Spine Therapist

blahhhh

Its a remix, and while I haven't heard the original, it sounds too simple. Could have done a little to amp it up. More faster synths at the climax of the song, which really should be a loop because of its length. The bass synth at first was a little too gritty, and once the crowd came in it was overpowered by the other synths. Piano melody was...alright. Would have liked to hear it up more active at the end of the song when it comes back in, not just a repeat of the pattern before. Beat was sooo simple, but i guess thats trancy dance music.

How the fuck do you get all these reviews...sell your soul to the devil?
He won't take mine, its too corrupted already

A well-deserved review

kind words in exchange for kind words

The bells are so dreamy, with the ambient birds chirping and breeze blowing, it creates a really nice atmosphere. The gentle slides on the sub were a nice build to the drop of the drums, which took me completely by suprise, by the way. Not the beat I was imagining at all, they were so hyper driven and break beat like. All the other sounds are so serene, the drums were almost out of place. They did have some awesome fills and variation though. The sub should have been more active during the second half of the song, would have made it sound alot more full. The strings were a very nice touch. Despite having the bell pattern repeat the entire time, I never got bored, so great job!

Good luck in the MAC, fits the theme superbly.

Triskele responds:

Whoa, very glad to have a review from you!

The sound I've been developing depends a lot on the tension between dreamy, serene, even trippy soundscapes and harsh, violent breaks. I'm sure it takes a lot of people by surprise, and that's sort of the purpose of it all.

As for the sub, I'm still working on my bass programming. My background is mostly sample based, so I'm still learning.

Glad you enjoyed it! I'll hit you back. Thanks a lot

(By the way, just after you reviewed I uploaded a reworked version with more active/intense subs. Give it a listen if you feel like it <3)
