Famous Words

This beginning part needs lower bass piano (whole)notes; long, drawn out, and epic. Liking the variation, from part to part. Even if it is just an experiment, it could have potential for a cool song, just needs some more sturcture. The melody that comes in at 2 minutes is pretty cool. You should make another adaptation, but add more than just piano elements(synths/strings/etc)

EmperorCharlemagne responds:

Long drawn out and epic were none of my intentions when making this piece of music. It would be pretty much unfair to the nature of the piece to put in elements that would give it melody, varying intsruments or the like. Repetition is the structure here.

That being said, two marimbas could play this piece and it would sound great.

Thanks for the input, though.

It is a good song

but you ruined it...

work on your drums, dude

Catstuffer responds:

:(

Thanks for the advice!

dancin through the streets

the melody is hard to recognize at first, you might want to start the lead off with the section at 23 seconds. I wish I had my headphones on right now, they're out of reach, and I am being extremely lazy and inebriated. This remix does make me want to pick up my hand held and catch 'em all again...so it did its job well.

My favorite song from pokemon has to be the one from the moon cave, where its all dark and whatnot. If I ever remix one(which is won't happen) I'd do that song. If you find that midi file, I suggest you give it a go.

Can't really critisize too much more w/out my headphones. Sorry....

P.S. in my last review I said that the last chord was a GM minus the third, I meant the fifth, yea...

i'll review your pokemon song in a sec

but this improv is realllly sick, especially the trill runs you do at 40 seconds.

The two weird chords you mention are Eb major(2nd inversion) and G major(w/out the third), respectively.

yea, nice job

its like a little mixtape

are these all original songs? that would be awesome. they dont really have transitions...that would be tight. but they all sound cool, I guess from what I heard. Synths and vocals sound pretty good.

today I feel so high too haha. interesting way to wrap the EP

ApproachingNirvana responds:

Thanks for the review! These are all original songs from our EP, "Breaking Influence." They aren't transitioned very well because this is meant to serve as a preview of the EP in its entirety.

Hopefully you'll see fit to check us out on Myspace and get some of the songs! If not that's fine too :P.

Thanks for the comments!

Damn Right!

fades in really nicely. Flute patch is cool, I felt that everything should have been brighter and more synthy sounding. It might just be because its midi instrumentation, Im not suree...

If you could find a way to put an effect on your voice and make it lower, it would be 1000x better. Im not saying that what you have is bad, but if you could immitate Issac Hayes voice a little better then it would be perfect.

The outro was cool

epic is my middle name

Nice little intro, those pad effects were very eerie indeed. The strings played off eachother very well. The timpani roll prepared me for the main part, but I didnt really forsee what actually ended up going down. It almost had a Lord of The Rings hobbit celebratory feel to it. The silence was alright for a transition, but you probably could have had the strings playing during it for more fluidity. It was good that you brought the melody(chorus) back in, made the song more rounded. I think the main problem with this song, is that each section is so distinctly different, which is ok for mood setting, but for songwriting its not so wise.

The ending sounded sick, I wish it was longer.

Zero123Music responds:

Yes, I agree I need to keep a main theme throughout

thanks for the compliments!

Mole People

Neat little groove going on here. Definatly sounds like youre in some deep dark Some of the drums were too loud, like the hat/snare hit thing. Cool pad work and manipulation of parts. Changes really suddenly, then gets a little off time. This is pretty all over the place. Its nice how you keep some of the parts consistent, but I dunno how well it actually flows. Especially at the end...

DJHarlock responds:

Yea I was pretty sick of doing 4 on floor bass kicks so I tried doing this but kept accidentally lapsing over the next pattern sequence..

its hard to review

when the music fixates me in a trance...

ohhhh, thats what the title means...should have seen that coming hahaha

ok, so the hits in the beginning worked really well with the fade in, I feel like this song is constantly escalating(not just in pitch, but in the transitions and power) Like when the the claps come in with the drums and the action slows down, it creates a nice separation for when the synth lead comes in. The panning is awesome as usual, specially on the vocals, and that one effect that happens right before the synth solo. It starts on the elft and explodes on the right, really cool.

There's so many subtleties to this song, that it needs to be listened to at least 3 times to really apreciate. Only on the fourth time around did I start to focus on the acoustic guitar part haha. Prob gonna listen a few more for good measure(and inspiration)

Kingbastard responds:

hey man, thanks for the review, sorry to disappoint you with the trk title meaning though:P
