65 bpm

basically half-time. my most recent song is also at this speed.

It sounds nothing like this haha. Which means I will have alot of fun remixing...

I liked how the flute and oboe/basoon played back and forth with eachother. Instead of silence for that transition, I would try a big bass drum or crash, loads of reverb of course. That one trill part at 3 min sounded too much like the beginning. If you're gonna use it again, I would repeat what came after it.

The part before 4 min could have sounded a little more full, maybe throw in that choir or a string combi.

Very nice!
(if you could check out Odd E-C it would be much apreciated)

SolusLunes responds:

Will do.

You do know that I actually am remastering this song, right?

I'm definitely grateful for your insights- it helps me out a lot. :D

Whatever happened to CTSG3 anyways?

that battle had alot of loose ends to it(mainly after my part)...

This one sounds really freakin awesome though. Haha random jazz breakbeats

ending was epic as hell

dub

dont rwally find much of that here. I like it alot though, very ambient groovy. This dub could really use some guitar sample, just feels empty without it. The synths were wobblin all over the place. nice delay on the drums, able to re-create the dub feel there for sure. cool vocal sample as well. Gets a little repetetive at the end.

Stankeater? eater of smelly things???

haha

bongo solos...

oh man, this is building up nicely. all the drums sound really wet, maybe its like a chorus fx on them or something. the bass is so gurgling but it works really well with the drums. the orchestral samples were very odd haha, guess thats the style.

If i'm not supposed to think, why am I studying this piece? time to enjoy the last minute...

fun, wished the drums got a little more energy towards the end.

coool

lacks drums, but that makes sense for just being a menu loop. it's more ambient and cave dwelling like anyways lacking them. You might want to turn down the gain on that high shelf eq, it gets a little overdrive when the pad gets all freqed out...

looking forward to the game

Rucklo responds:

yeah, the compression made the high-end a bit worse, it should be sustainable in the game though. i hope (i actually already shelfed the master like 3-4dB from 5kHz, and a narrow q around 3500Hz about 2-3 dB. Perhaps I should have brought it down even further,,, i simply have no time to doublecheck in other systems today, and most likley not during the weekend either) :O

since it's a menu-loop, i didn't want any kind of beat to it.

thanks for the review man, it's appreciated! :D

This sounds recorded

there's alot of tempo and dynamic changes that would be too much of a bitch to sequence out. Top rate job, could use some orchestration, which will happen. If not by you, by one of your loyal fans...

i want a song with 50+ reviews :(

Could be cleaner

maybe there is a little too much delay feedback on the pads, which pan really well by the way. I would also work on the fluidity of the transition, but I'm sure you were going to anyways...(try cutting off the instruments and 1/8 beat hi-hat at 1:06)

I like where you're goin with this and the overall feel of the drums

-I was going to review "The Third Measure", but that's just a joke song haha

SineRider responds:

Hey RyeGuyHead, haven't seen you around in awhile. This is only a demo so I haven't gotten all the bugs out. But you definitely shed some light on what I need to work on the most.

I see what you mean about the pads delay feedback. And yeah the transition is pretty crap. But I'm working on it at the moment and your comment gave me a good idea how to fix it.

Thanks for the review buddy. oh and finally someone understands "The Third Measure" XD

A master, you say?

I like how the drums come into the mix. You're bassline is a little odd. It's an 8 bar progresssion if I'm not mistaken. The third bar is the same as the first, which isn't a bad thing, it just doesn't quite flow as well as the rest. I would experiment with that a tad. The add-ons are really cool, especially that gated pad that comes in before the two minute mark. It should have kept playing when the piano melody came back in. Repetition is a vital part of music, if something only happens once, it feels like a mistake or its out of place. When writing something, pay attention to the symmetry of all parts.

You should review Outro(Spective)-Voyage of mine, if you havn't already :D

Box-Killa responds:

Hmm someone said it was too repeditive but yeah i know, maybe i should have continued it, but then it wouldnt have had the same epic, only once effect.. Ill def review ure song. Oh and i just updated this song so it has lots more alteration.Yeah with the progression if i change anything it wont sound dark, sometimes you have to not play notes to get the right sound. But yeah thanks for the advice nice, very nice review :D Peace

oh actually, i realise its the same progression the whole way through, maybe i should have another progression somewhere. O well :D

Siiick

I was not a fan of the open hi-hats or the low end guitar. It could be an eq thing

speedmetalmessiah responds:

Fuck, sorry for the late response. Been away for ages now it seems. Now that I listen back I agree about the hi-hats. Going to need to fix those at some point. Thanks a lot for the review. I'll stop by your page in a bit and check some shit out.

Dude!

you've come a long way...this track is siiiick

"enter her subway, feed her my meat balls" great line haha.

Put some more auto-tune on the chorus and this song is pro quality
