booom kick

the first part was very catchy, I liked how it came back in during the piano section, and the drop back in to the beat was on point. The piano definatly needs more reverb though, and could use another part on a lower octave to give the impression of someone actually sitting down and playing. The third drop was too much, could have used a different transtion there haha. Its repetetive but theres alot of variation, so which makes good trance. Drum breakdown at the end was pretty awesome, but it needs more snare and less kick. Yea!

Kr1z responds:

allright thanks!!

please explain

the reference to kelly osbourne.

Everything else at least seemed at least somewhat in place...did she get married recently? We already know shes got no talent...Im lost. Song sort of drags you along. Good shit

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

yo bro
kelly is the embodiment of celebrity-worship society which is what this song is partly about.
yep
;ped

who is this tutankamen character?

like king tut or something. I imagine pharaohs forcing slaves to work on building the pyramids while theyre crusing down the nile in rafts made out of human bones!!! The bass drums represent the every hack on the limestone(?) slabs. I can almsot feel the crack of thw whip.

Wait, the egyptians didnt build the pyramids, aliens did....

This song is very thematic, and the dynamics are all over the place. Great job. The brass kicks ass

Suspended-3rd-Chord responds:

Tutankhamen = full name for King Tut (I think)

haha I like how you described my track. that some pretty kickass visuals right there.

Thanks for the review! and i'm really glad you noticed the dynamics, i put a lot of effort into that department.

Interesting

typing with my left hand, cuz my right is muncging kettle corn...

the melody of the intro was very retro soynding. I wonder if you could hold some of those chords longer. The transition was my favorite, reminded me of an aeroplane. The next part was ver trancy, with the basic kick bass count. Then the melodys come back. some of the fills and drums at the end are overpowering. very unique sound

Now go leave me a present...(its a celebration)

omgitskatman responds:

lol xD. The begging was Ambient Trance. I wanted to try lol!
Yeah ok. And it really is..

nice vocal samples

If you play WoW, Göst is a fiery destruction lock that is ready to bring the pain. I play on burning legion mostly....

But yea this song is ridiculous. Turning the warcraft overture into a dance tune takes some skill for sure. The dwarves always make me laugh. Is that flute/oboe sampled or sequenced. The strings are on spot too. Most impressive

(I read your blog, and I have been submitting music since '03, haha)

SkyMarshall responds:

Hi there! Im over at Mazrigos, running about with a Draenei Shaman named Shamarshall, of all original names to pick:) And thanks for the 10 man. The flute and oboe are ofcourse sequenced using similar instruments. I like the fact that you like it :)

deserving of a review

or two, or three hundred.

When the bass drum goes solo, before the chords are played, it sounds too empty and a little rushed. Work with some more hi-hat/snare fills. They are more realistic sounding and offer alot more of varation possiblities. The bass type guitar sound should either be played during the entire piece, or you should write an entire bass part over the entire song.

haha, the drum fills after two min were so random. Some crazy ass effects were going on after that part too. Mainly the reverse cymbol, sounded sweet. At 3 min you should introduce a snare hit on the down beats, would make it sound more climactic and would tie it up nicely.

Anyways, good job. If you could check out my latest submission, it would be greatly apreciated...

thanks man i'll check it out

city surfin

was expecting more 80s beats with a title like this. But I was pleased by the work none the less. Reminded me of teenage mutant ninja turtles, on the level where you're cruisin on a futuristic highway.

Some of the synths were a little out of place... Really liked the pads in the backgorund in the beginning, the lead started a little too loud. It gets sort of jazzy afterwards, with a growling bass and organ hits. The drums felt weird during this section, but I was definatly digging the fills. The way you threw around the melody between the instruments was really cool too. That part at 1:30 with the delayed synth is too awesome sounding to not bring back, I think you do later in the song if im not mistaken...

check mine out?

SolusLunes responds:

I see your point about the lead being a bit too loud, will adjust for v.2, but you are wrong on one point- the nifty delayed synth at 1:30 ish is the only instance of it in the song :D

The drums were hard to get it to not feel weird, as it's not the same as working with samples :(

And yeah, one of the synths has kind of been niggling at me. Will likely also change that for v.2.

Thanks for the feedback and the helpful pointers.

I might pop the delayed synth in another place or two because you liked it so.

Sweet

The bells are so haunting, I liked how you introduced the beat around them, dropped them out, and brought it back again. Everything was mixed nicely, the bass kicks after the second vocal sample were a little strange, and some parts after it felt really empty. But its a sweet dance track fo sure.

If you could check out my latest...thatd be swell

Anima-Theory responds:

Thanks for the review :D

I shall look at your music..........now :D

Anima

your bass

is way too far back in the mix for this track. I turned up my subs and all I could hear was the kick and the ocassional suspended bass.

Tyring on headphones now...intro is nice, the bell is a bit abrassive, although it probably should be that way. I liked the rolling drums in the begininng. The second open hi hat is uneseasarry, especially cuz it drops off right afterwards.

Yea i think my biggest beef was the lead synth. Wasn't bassy enough for DnB. The tom fill was pretty sweet

Nav responds:

There's no lead synth. There's a sub underneath, that you should've heard... I dunno why you didn't. Thanks, the toms are sampled 909 hits! :)

uh...

wow, you first submission kicks ass.

It sounded really nice out of my speakers, then I put on headphones, and it just went to another level. The airy pads and woodwind combination is so dreamy, and the bass is chill groovin. I really liked the lfo type effect panning whenever theres a crash. Oh and its peaking now, with a sweet transition.

This is too epic right now...miliatry snare roll, are you kidding me. Really pulled it all out for this. The bass and synth combo right afterwards pretty spot on. The resonance fades out, and a bell chime to wrap it all up.

z0di4c responds:

Thanks! This is probably one of more accomplished compositions =P
