Decent

the beginning piano part hardly sounding like the original. But Im really digging the build up, with the snares and strings coming in. Would have kept up the snare beat, maybe added a little more to it after the timpani roll. Can barely tell this is the ultra famous trance song it is, maybe its the synopation. You should have put ont of the instruments on an apregiator to try and match it.
Wait, here it comes. With the pizz strings and the bells, still a little funny sounding. This whole time I could have been hearing more drums, by the time the snares do come back in, its almost too late. I like the flute melody alot, wished it lased longer

Guess the ostinato assignment made it difficult to expand too much, but it didn't take me on the voyage the classic sandstorm does. keep workin on it, likeing where its going.

SniperSnake19 responds:

I really took the whole song out of perspective. the piano resembles the intro synth. its is not playing the same melody exactly but the key in which they operate as well as the note order is the same as the original.

I do not want to match trance cause its suppose to be another style.

Your right about some parts of the built up. But I they only gave me 2 weeks ( the weeks around christmas and new year) so I ran out of time! I will never forgive them for that haha!.

I just figured some1 might like it so I uploaded it for fun. Anywayz. I do like you in depth review. I hope you'll review my upcoming serious track which I had more time to spend on of course :)

A well-deserved review

kind words in exchange for kind words

The bells are so dreamy, with the ambient birds chirping and breeze blowing, it creates a really nice atmosphere. The gentle slides on the sub were a nice build to the drop of the drums, which took me completely by suprise, by the way. Not the beat I was imagining at all, they were so hyper driven and break beat like. All the other sounds are so serene, the drums were almost out of place. They did have some awesome fills and variation though. The sub should have been more active during the second half of the song, would have made it sound alot more full. The strings were a very nice touch. Despite having the bell pattern repeat the entire time, I never got bored, so great job!

Good luck in the MAC, fits the theme superbly.

Triskele responds:

Whoa, very glad to have a review from you!

The sound I've been developing depends a lot on the tension between dreamy, serene, even trippy soundscapes and harsh, violent breaks. I'm sure it takes a lot of people by surprise, and that's sort of the purpose of it all.

As for the sub, I'm still working on my bass programming. My background is mostly sample based, so I'm still learning.

Glad you enjoyed it! I'll hit you back. Thanks a lot

(By the way, just after you reviewed I uploaded a reworked version with more active/intense subs. Give it a listen if you feel like it <3)

Im underwater here...

the bass chord at 30 sec before the silence was too high? maybe, doesnt matter. These drums are really powerful, the crashes in particular, they last forever haha. The strings could maybe use some more reverb. Nice little piano interlude, could have a little more action in the upperovtaves, sense it is the only instrument. Very full sounding, nice job!

Gloudas responds:

Glad you liked it! Good idea with the reverb on strings though, hadn't thought of that. Thanks for reviewing!

Felt like i was on a world map

for looping purposes, those two brass notes at the end should definatly be played by a string...nice job otherwise

Zero123Music responds:

ok, thanks for the suggestion. I will fix right away. :D

Menu Loop

Might be a more apropriate title then haha. Sucks that Im not listening to this on my speakers, I think the sub would sound nice, at leat I feel like this should be 10x more dark and deep. Th beat is simple, nice little break in it. The hats that come on the down beat, try putting them on the up beat with less velocity, it would make it sound more continious, and seeing as its a loop, thats something you should go for...

But me likes

LoneEagle responds:

Hi RyeGuyHead, i haven't listened to this on my speakers either, i always wear the headphones nowadays. Thanks for your feedback it is really appreciated and I'm glad you enjoyed the loop.

oooh

me likes the bass alot. I would change the attck on the brass, its a little too slow, maybe bring it up in the upper eq too. Whats this orchestra part, wasn't expecting that haha.

coMpLekS responds:

yeah, the brass does sound a lil off now that you mention it. haha, yea i dunno about that orch part i just felt like switchin it up.

I would have to agree...

this track is pretty sick. I would put more in the fill at 11 sec, when there is silence, maybe take out a little in the synth part at the transitions aswell if you do master and re-upload. Just some suggestions...

Very catchy anyways, nice job!

Lol what up RGH. long time no talk. maybe i will end up doing something with it. preciate the input!

what the...

the song changed so much at the minute marker. It got all down-tempo and grooved out, with the organ and keyboard patches, it made the song for me. Drums are always changing, definatly a plus. The beginning is a little too random for my tastes, but its definatly a sick track. The minute marker especially reminds me of the gorillaz.

check out my latest?

SineRider responds:

Yeah, this was a total experiment with sampling and stuff. I'm glad you liked it. I brought so of my craziest drum programming and manual glitching I could do in the beginning. I think it came out good.

I will check your song now :)

what else woudl i consider...

the main drum beat was very driving, glitch fills, always changing, the pad is nice and dark.

Once the pad fills out, the drums hold a pattern, but they are always vairatinr I think you added strings, but im not sure, sort of sruggling to type right now.

Its a little repetive, but the there is a lot of movement in the middle, nothing is the same, i like how the beat is always changing...

Nice effectis on the pad, with the attack, and the drums coming back in. oooh, that fade out is nice, but I want so much more.

Sorry for being greedy....

Are the vocals saying something at the very beginning or is it just me....

(video game all the way...)

maybe a newer golden eye(N64) feel, so says my roomate...

LJCoffee responds:

Hey RGH,

Haven't seen you around in a while. Thanks for the comments. The vocals really aren't saying much of anything - they started out as a sort of semi-melodic pseudo-phonemish wialing. They've been reversed, effected, in some cases reversed again and run through a huge amount of reverb so it really only just hints at something resembling speech at this point.

Thanks again - talk to you in a bit.

.....i think ive seen longer....

oh my

Basoon played around very nicely with the bells. Piano came in and dropped out instantly, I'm sure it will be back. The timpani was a little over powerful at some points. Flute almost doesnt dound high enough, maybe its in the eq, could be the patch though, its really dry sounding. Nice little delay before the chords get all minor on the run down. Bringin back the original melody, nice touch. It does sort of sound like FF7 when it goes up on the first part of the melody.

Piano sounds superb, wanted some more variation the second go around. Should have the piano played constat arpegios or something, maybe it will come at the end. Little breakdown, the snare should be rolling more, and there shoujld be a bass kick. Then it would sound dead on like an orchestra rhthym section.

Is that the choir coming in for the first time now? Probably not...

SolusLunes responds:

That's what she said.

It's probably the patch with the flute- I haven't been able to find just the right sound for it.

:p
