Thanks man!
wow
that's a lengthy review....
wasn't too fond of the bright brass sounds, and I would agree that the melody was a little low in the register. I like the ambiance in the beginning, and the drum hats. Need more percussion on the left side. Nice feeling throughout, but for a song called lonely plains, the ending is quite cheerful.
Hmm, i'll try to make the melody an octave higher and see how that sounds :)
And the name.. yeah, i just write down what comes up in my head, so sometimes the name is fitting and sometimes.. it's not :p
Thanks for the review!
oooh
very nice.
Even before the strings and horns came in, it sounded like a very professional movie score. The dynamics were utilized superbly. That low drone and reverse cymbols at the minute mark was extremely eerie and worked great as a transition. The silence fills in the drum line were unique and carried the energy of the song very nicely.
Woah. This is brilliant
Thank you! That low drone you hear is a pitch-bended didjeridoo- something ive never tried before.
I was wondering...
if you ever tried switching up the bell part to a different lead, since it is the only instrument, besides some pad and bass. I dunno, maybe tamper around with something more...synthy?
short answer: no
long answer: no, because this was exactly the sound I was going for...spaced out, sparse, leaving the listener's own mind to fill in the blanks. All the pad I really wanted was the ringing feedback from the piano. And in terms of synths, hell no. Much prefer the acoustic sound.
groovin
once the drums come in. It layered very nicely.
The piano was a little grainy, and it is one of the first instruments introduced, so you might want to re-eq the lows(down) primarily. I also wasn't a fan of the delay on it.
There were some cool synth parts, at the 45 second mark. The solo synth at 1:30 sounds better with the filter on, it overdrives before that point. Good stuff.
thanks man :D
yea
i gave you a zero
lol ^ ^ irony.
that was awesome
next time exclude the Justin Timberlake and Hall of the Mountain King snippets haha
really cool though, nice job. I might turn up the bassline up. Dug the Gorillaz
why thank you buddy! yeah some assorted stuff in there for everyone, i directed at a wide audience with different ideas and genres ^ ^ thanks man! :D thanks alot :D
cool
I really liked how the oboe or w/e reed instrument that was came in. Timpani and crashes were definitely added alot to the feeling of this piece. Strings were placed well in the background, and the xylophone hits, thought sparse, brought out the melody nicely. I would use them more when possible.
The piano sounded a little grainy on the low end of the spectrum. Otherwise, very well done.
Finding a lost friend might be a more cheery occasion, but I liked your take on it.
Well, i had my doubts about the Marimba (not xylophone ;p), so i decided to keep it out the rest of the melody.
Thanks so much for the review!
Like our universe?
the pad is really eerie, but the synths are so pop sounding. The piano could have used a little more action in the melody after the 1:10 mark. The strings sound really cool panning back and forth, full as hell too. Oh yea, knew the drop was coming haha. Low piano notes are badass during this part. Pads are really crazy, they modulation on them sounds like a mandolin strumming.
There were still some parts i listen to now that I recognize need just a tad more work...
But don't worry, I'll keep improving this stuff.
derp
cool bells in the echo background. Organ might have beel a little overpowered...
nice evil laugh. I could imagine some crunching guitar riffs coming in after it. They would fit well with the drums. The part at 1:10 needed another lead, not another bass, it gets boring as is. The whole second half has been pretty repetetive so far actually.
It's alright. nice feel, mediocre execution. I want more of the initial instrument!
meh.
