Lets do it!

I liked the synth beat, it was something very solid to build your song around. The drums could have been tweaked a little more. Throw some FX on them, adjust the frequency of your hi hats a little. There was some nice diversity in here, switching keys and waht not. The other synth, i guess it was the melody, it sounded like a square sound either way, might have been nice with a phaser.

The bell delay had too much feedback, sort of made it muddle together. Some open hi-hats on the 3rd beat would make this song funky, but its cool as it is.

Nice job man

LoneEagle responds:

Thanks man for the good advice and comments. I'll have to be careful when using echo/delayed notes in my future work because it is something that i tend to do... i remember doing this in an older piece as well and it was mentioned to me that it was to much and created some echoing chaos.

Thanks for the review.

oh shit

break it down.
Quite build on this one. The lead that came in was stylin, but you probably should have changed its melody once the dums came in full swing again. Very funky, all the add-ons, the plucking, and polyphony of it. Quite the improovement, good job

coMpLekS responds:

Thanks homie. I worked hard on this one. I agree with you when you say it lacks a bit of diversity. Glad you liked it.

Had some very nice touches

The subtle strings when the piano and rums went solo was nice, and the part after it was intense, but the drums need to get intense at the end, and not fall out to a basic beat. Throwing in the trance pad or whateverat the end could boost it up a bit too. But twas very nice and orginial

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

thanks pal, a bit of constructive criticism is what i was after when i posted this so, yeh, nice 1,will build it up at the end instead of dropping out... bo

Very ambient

the hi hats might have been a little too sharp for this mood. Filtering them would add tio the overall effect i feel. One of the pads that came in overrided the song too much, and the note was held for a ridiculously long time. But the fae out was nice, just turn the volume down on it.

Overall, the notes played were too random to be considered musical, but with the right mastering this could be a quality ambient piece

Im goingto have to agree with

The DJ on this one...sorry Knox, I would stick to flash man

cool

I thought the synth was a little too exposed. Just a bass isnt enough to accompany it in this song. The beat was still cool and when the lead dropped off and you put in the strings it was a nice touch. I could definatly imagine myself battling to this...

Not bad

Once the drums pick up and the bass stays sort of the same chord progression, i thought that it sort of dragged on. But I did like the flanged out drum roll... The effects were really cool, and everything sounded really clean. I must say that the bass progression was way too repetetive for me, but thats probably just me. Oh well, I liked it

Anima-Theory responds:

The reason it drags on is the fact that it's battle sequence music. :P

So yeah

Thanks very much for the review

Very skilled

In composition with the piano. All of the instruments worked well together, but i espsecially liked the wah guitar...i can never get one to sounds so crisp. The synth that was panned to the left was pretty cool, i wouldnt have had it so exposed though. The bassline was very soulful but i wished you had more of a synth attack to it. Still very nicely done

LaymanLove responds:

I hear what you're saying with the synth attack to it, but I decided last minute to keep it on the chill side. I had a friend of color help me put the extra soul in this one, haha. Thanks for the listen and the review!

Haha

Was quite nice in all honesty. You can easily make out that this isnt a midi rip, which is awesome, and the sounds meshed very well togethet, especially once the song started to pick up. Some of the pitch bends in the electric guitars were too severe, but other than that, well done

pyroguy-37 responds:

yeah..I know what you mean about the pitch bends.. While I was recording I didn't even realize that they were THAT severe...believe it or not..I make my music using a Sony Playstation One, and the game MTV Music Generator..and I RARELY use presets! All I have to do from there is use the line in port on my MP3 player and record :P. Thanks for the review!

Call me old fashioned

But i really don't enjoy this type of stuff. Sure you had great samples, and you put them into your song and it had a beat and quality mastering. But there was no melody and it basically impossible to groove out to as well. I have seen the program your using in action, and chopping the entire song can be done at the touch of a button, but you shouldnt use that function just for the hell of it. Its got potential, but the bottom line is: Its too repetitive and random, which is, by nature, an extremely unhealthy oxymoron.

Ill go out on a limb and say this shouldnt be number 1, i hope im not alone with this oppinnion, for i fear relentless flaming

dj-padman1 responds:

Ok, so how does quality mastering (it's not by the way!) equate to a 4 for clarity. And secondly, what samples? All the synths are played. Maybe I should have recorded a coke can being compressed and turned it into a snare or something?
It's fair enough that you don't like it. No worries. I just don't quite understand how your marking coincides with your comments.
Lastly, can you please tell me what button I can push to chop the entire song? That sounds fun, but I haven't seen it yet.
Thanks for the review all the same. And I'll direct you to BOUNC3 (too cool for small caps) if you want melody.
I agree with you, there's a lot of randomness and chaos here. But what is wrong with that? It may not appeal to you, but I'm sure a few people like something a little different.
And don't fear 'relentless flaming'. Firstly, you're just stating your reasonable opinion. Second, most people on this site no doubt agree with you.
